Terms of Service
Version 1.0 · Effective 11 September 2026
These are the terms you agree to when you order through St. Stephen Go. We have tried to write them so you can actually read them. If something here is unclear, email pardeep@ssgo.ca and ask.
What St. Stephen Go is
St. Stephen Go operates ssgo.ca, an ordering and delivery service for St. Stephen, New Brunswick and the surrounding Calais border area.
The restaurant sells you the food. We provide the ordering platform and, if you choose delivery, the driver. That distinction matters when something goes wrong: the restaurant is responsible for the food, its preparation, its ingredients and its description. We are responsible for the platform, the pricing shown to you, and getting the order to your door.
We are pre-launch. The service is operating in a small area with a small number of restaurants while we build it out. Hours, coverage and availability will be inconsistent for a while. We would rather say that here than have you discover it at dinner time.
Who can order
You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 16. You need a valid delivery address inside our service area, a working payment method, and a way for us to reach you about the order. Keep your account details accurate — a wrong address or phone number is the single most common reason an order goes wrong.
Placing an order, and when it becomes real
Adding items and checking out is an offer, not a completed sale. An order becomes binding only when the restaurant accepts it.
- A restaurant has 15 minutes to accept.
- If it does not accept in that window, the order expires automatically. Nothing is charged.
- A restaurant can decline an order — it may be out of an item, too busy, or closing. Nothing is charged.
Payment, and the bit worth knowing
Your card is authorised at checkout, not charged. The money is only taken when the restaurant accepts your order. Until then your bank is holding the amount, not paying it. If the order expires or the restaurant declines, that hold is released and nothing moves.
Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers. We see an amount, a status and a reference — never your card number.
A pending authorisation can look like a charge in your banking app. Releases are not instant; how quickly the hold disappears is up to your bank, not us.
Prices and fees
Menu prices are set by the restaurant. Everything added on top is shown to you in full before you pay — there is no fee in this service that you only discover on the receipt.
- Delivery fee. $6.95, which covers the first 4 km, then $1.25 per additional kilometre. Distance is measured along the driving route and rounded up to the next half kilometre, so a quote and the final charge cannot disagree over a few metres of routing.
- Service fee. 15% of the food subtotal on delivery, 10% on pickup, with a minimum of $2.00. Tax applies to this fee.
- HST at 15% on food, as required in New Brunswick.
- Tips. Optional, and 100% of a tip goes to your driver. We take nothing from it.
Choosing pickup means no delivery fee, no driver and no tipping option, and the service fee drops to 10%.
Delivery
- We deliver only within New Brunswick, Canada, up to 10 km by road from the restaurant. Addresses outside that are refused at checkout rather than accepted and then cancelled.
- Delivery times are estimates, not promises. Weather, traffic, a busy kitchen and the border area all move them. We will not pretend otherwise.
- Someone needs to be reachable at the address. If a driver cannot reach you and cannot safely leave the order, it may be returned, and we may not be able to refund food that has been made and delivered in good faith.
- If you ask a driver to leave an order unattended, it is at your risk from the moment it is left.
If something goes wrong
Tell us. Email pardeep@ssgo.ca, or message on the order itself, as soon as you can — same day is far easier to resolve than next week, because we can still check with the restaurant and the driver while anyone remembers.
Missing items, the wrong order, food that arrived in a state it should not have: we will look at what happened and put it right, by refund or by credit. There is no automated refund button, and we are not going to pretend a form is faster than a person at our size.
Once a restaurant has accepted and started cooking, an order generally cannot be cancelled — the food is already being made. Ask us anyway if something has changed; how far along it is decides what is possible.
Using the service properly
Do not:
- Order to an address you have no right to receive deliveries at.
- Abuse, threaten or harass restaurant staff or drivers. These are people who live in the same town as you.
- Use someone else's payment method, or claim an order did not arrive when it did.
- Attempt to break, overload, scrape or probe the service, or to reach accounts or data that are not yours.
We may suspend or close an account over any of these, and we will say why if we do.
Restaurants and drivers
Partner restaurants and drivers work with us under separate agreements, not these terms. Drivers are not our employees. Nothing on this page gives a customer rights under those agreements, or the other way round.
Availability
We do not guarantee the service will be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We will take it down for maintenance when we need to, and at this stage that will sometimes be at short notice.
Our responsibility, and its limits
We are responsible for doing what these terms say we will do, and nothing here removes rights you have under Canadian consumer protection law — those rights apply whatever this page says.
Beyond that: we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order. The restaurant, not St. Stephen Go, is responsible for the food itself, including allergens and how it was prepared. If you have a food allergy, check with the restaurant directly before ordering. We cannot verify what happens in someone else's kitchen.
Privacy
What we collect and why is set out separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes
If we change these terms we will update the version and date at the top of this page. Orders are governed by the terms in force when you placed them. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you rather than relying on you to re-read this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of New Brunswick and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
